Amaverum... I’m sorry to draw your case to a close so suddenly. It was certainly a fun game you were playing. Indeed, if I wasn’t so currently occupied with other things, I might have let you keep at it. Your first attempt at crime was certainly an impressive one, albeit unsuccessful. Although whether or not I could truly call it crime is questionable.

Yes, Leaf, I know you were behind this case. It’s true I don’t know all the details, nor everyone involved, but I’m sure I’ll be able to find that out soon enough. In truth, I’ve suspected you from the beginning, but I’ve known since yesterday. Why did I wait until now to reveal the truth, you ask? Well in reality, I told a few members of the taskforce last night, but withheld the information from those I didn’t feel I could trust. 

That information, my private casefile, I will share with you here. I will not waste time spelling out everything again. 

As neither yourself nor (I assume) Linda are real hostages, I’m sure you will have no trouble returning to your homes, if you ever left them. 

There is still one thing I’d like to discuss, and that’s your choice of name. Why, I wonder, did you choose the Latin word for love? And more specifically, why did you conjugate it incorrectly? This has been on my mind since Friday night. 

The noun form of the word -- amor -- is the third declension. However, there are no third declension endings with -erum. The verb form of the word, amare, doesn’t conjugate into Amaverum either. In short, the word Amaverum doesn’t exist. The correct conjugation would be Amaveram in the pluperfect, meaning “I had loved”.

I’ll leave it up to you whether or not you decide to answer. 

In conclusion, I’ll leave you with this to consider. There are real, far more important cases going on than what you did here. People have died because of New Kira, and a member of our taskforce is in prison, having been framed for murder. There is a time and place for such things, but this is not it. It’s for this reason I decided against making a broadcast for this case.
