Yesterday on July 3rd, the Player 1 case came to a close. It has been a very interesting few days. I suspect most you of have been following the events of this case carefully, but I will provide you with a very brief summary of events.
(All information from this case including codes, ciphers, and all related posts may be found at player1casefile.tumblr.com. The access password is thebooty. This is a joke everyone enjoys except for myself, so in good spirits I agreed to use it. Please keep in mind that this blog cannot be accessed from the mobile tumblr app. It must be viewed from a computer (preferred) or the brower on your mobile device. I suggest you look over this database. It has lots of interesting and relevant information.)
Weeks ago, misora--massacre received a message from a mysterious Player 1. That message has since been lost, but it set the game in motion long before it truly began.
On Monday June 29th, yourjusticelawliet began receiving messages from someone under this same alias. They asked him to form his “team”, and 6 members were chosen: misora--massacre, aidiholdstheuniverse, levishi77, sayu-is-a-sass-queen illlivemyownway, and myself. Shortly after, spknear asked to be a part of L’s taskforce, and joined as the 7th member.
Following the selection of the members, Player 1 sent a game rule to each one. 7 members, 7 rules. Thus began the game.
Player 1 said this game would last a week, concluding on Monday July 6th. There were to be clues sent out over the course of the week that the taskforce would have to put together. Should the taskforce fail to solve any puzzle, it would be ‘game over’ for one of them.
The same day, a “Player 2″ appeared. They claimed to be the Second Kira, and to be working with Player 1. It was at this point that we believed Player 1 to be Kira. This theory was disproven with spknear revealed that it was actually him, attempting to rile up Player 1 by interfering. It certainly had the desired effect.
Player 1 asked for our findings on Tuesday June 30th. However, they were not to Player 1′s standards, and we were forced to choose someone to eliminate. After careful decision, we decided on spknear. However, the rules of the game stated that once eliminated, a player could no longer assist with the case. We informed Aizawa that he was only going to appear to leave, but that he would continue working with us on skype where we had an ongoing conference call of sorts. If Player 1 figured out that Aizawa had broken this rule, we would be know that they were either a) part of the taskforce, or b) receiving information from within. However, they seemed never to notice, and so we believed they were not among us after all. Player 1 obviously cared about rules very much, and their game running smoothly. It seemed safe to assume that they would’ve called a player out on breaking a rule if they knew.
On this same day, other clues were sent to members of the taskforce. We arranged them in the order of who the numbered clues were sent to:
To Naomi: Hey, in case you forgot, the rule doesn’t apply to you. You’re still welcome to join my team. ;) ~ Player 1
To Mirai: Perhaps you’re ready to choose a side now? Expect game over if you don’t quickly. ~ Player 1
To Mello: Red is the color of passion, the color of love, but also the color of blood, the color of loss. Mihael Keehl, prepare to lose in our game, you should have chosen the right team when you could. ~ Player 1
To Near: Unfortunately, Nate River, this game will break your perfect record. ~ Player 1
To Matsuda: Seems like you’ve already expressed your loyalty to the wrong side. I will make sure you regret it. ~ Player 1
To Aidi: Come on, don’t tell me you’re playing Mr. Righteous now, Aidi. I really could have used your macabre intellect on my side, what a shame. ~ Player 1
To Aizawa: A special sort of punishment might be applied to those who intend to sabotage the game. Nothing will stop me. ~ Player 1
When we took the first letter of the first word in each sentence, in this order, it spelled out HYPER MUSICIAN. This is, in fact, the blog name of analystproductions.
Wednesday, July 1st, the taskforce received messages:
Don’t let this affect your mind too much, we have to make sure the game reaches its end properly. ~ Player 1 {Misora}
I have faith in you, Mirai-chan. ~ Player 1 {Mirai}
Nate River and you make a wonderful team. ~ Player 1 {Mello}
Our game is running smoothly. Secrets are being unraveled already. ~ Player 1 {Near}
Another note is being written, watch out ~ Player 1 {Matsuda}
Unexpected as usual, Aidi, keep it up. Remember you can’t switch sides though. ~ Player 1 {Aidi}
Once again, we took the first letter of the first word in each sentence, and it spelled DINOSAUR. Yet another reference to Izzy. To let Player 1 know we solved this puzzle, L rawr’d
This same day, sanctitydesigned joined the taskforce, though he was never including in any codes sent by Player 1.
Sometime in the early morning of Thursday, July 2nd, the next set of clues came in the form of a Cipher:
I’ll steal that leather jacket of yours >:) ~ Player 19 {Mello}
Your hair is cool ;) ~ Player 25 {Naomi}
You are amazing! <3 ~ Player 11 {Izzy}
Little baby baka <3 >:p ~ Player 21 {Matsu}
Hello Mr. Fight Me >:P “ ~ Player 20 {Aidi}
You look like a sheep :o ~ Player 11 {Near}
I like your new picture x.o ~ Player 21 {Mirai}
When the numbers in the cipher were shifted (7) and decoded, they spelled SOMEONE.
The evening of Thursday, July 2nd we received the next set.
ur pretty short am i right ~ Player 9 {Near}
Do u carry a purse? ~ Player 7/22 {Misora}
so what do u think about suspenders ~ Player 0 {Aidi}
Everything you do is excellent tbh ~ Player 11/25 {Izzy}
What’s your best riddle please I really wanna know. ~ Player 7/22 {Mirai}
have you ever been to a circus ~ Player 15/7 {Matsuda}
ur goldielocks tbh ~ Player 24/11{Mello}
However, it seemed that Player 1 was starting to slip.
Mirai, I am afraid something went wrong with your previous message. Something was accidentally slipped in. Please, dismiss it. Consider this one your actual clue. ~ Player 22 {Mirai}
With everything straightened out:
0 - T
9 - C
11 - E
22 - P
25 - S
15 - I
11 - E
7 - A
24 - R
The cipher spelled out APPRECIATES.
L received a few messages on Friday July 3rd:
L, after thinking thoroughly about everything that has happened today, I have made a decision. The game will end today. I will proceed to scatter the pieces of the final puzzle now. Good luck, and it was a pleasure playing with you. ~ Player 1
By the way, tomorrow’s clue was supposed to spell a name. A name the previous clues have hinted to. ~ Player 1
We could assume with this information that the name was “Izzy”. “Hyper Musician” and “Dinosaur” would allude to this. Misora had a theory that Player 1′s final clue would be their URL, and this seemed a plausible theory.
The taskforce shortly received messages as well:
Matsvda, youh’ve done greaht work! ~ Player 1 {Matsuda}
It was bery interessting to see you sso loayal, Mirai. Great work! ~ Player 1 {Mirai}
Nnaomi, it was great pkaying with you. I reeally hope to get a chance like that again. ~ Player 1 {Misora}
Aide, you habe done bery welly. ~ Player 1 {Aidi}
Mello, you have a lrittle chip on your shouldber. I just wanted to snugglle you. ~Player One {Mello}
Izzy you should reallize you’re ammazing. {Izzy}
Mmy little sheeap, you’re so cyte. ~ Player One {Near}
These messages were full of typos. Upon pulling them out, using a few ceaser cipher shifts, and rearranging, we found the URL:
This blog was created as a gift for analystproductions. The team behind it left this message for Izzy and L revealing themselves and detailing the story of this case.
It has certainly been interesting. This conclusion was a very well-deserved surprise. Congratulations to all involved.
