so. my screenplay. my stupid little project inspired by a stupid little pun that i thought of on the train a few months ago. my thing that is consuming my brain.
the title is Folk Tail and the elevator pitch is "jennifer's body/ginger snaps but it's on a pseudo-FLDS cult commune"
the main duo is a pair of teen sisters named Marcy and Lucy (short for Marceline and Luceline..they also have a older sister named matteline and a younger sister named joseline...their parents really wanted sons to name matthew, mark, luke, and john and then weren't creative enough to do everything else when all their kids were born girls)
Lucy gets attacked by a demon and slowly starts turning into one. and then starts eating people.
Marcy has to grapple with trying to reverse the transformation but also trying to do what's best for her little sister...which she might soon realize is not to force her back into being that good obedient girl...but how can she think of herself as a good daughter of God when she loves something so clearly evil?
It's absolutely a horror story. It's GORY as all get out. It deals with child abuse and sexual violence, mainly in the context of coercing young girls into plural marriage. It's very cannibalism-is-sexy. It's very much influenced by my experience with ultra-repressed lesbianism and compulsory heterosexuality. It's very critical/satirizing of Mormon conservatism and patriarchy. And it's also very silly cute siblings and saving the day with the power of faith and love. And I love itttttttttt
also on the subject of my personal writing ive been thinking of removing the cain subplot from folk tail, but i feel like if i do i'll have to change the title, which makes me sad because i love the title folk tail
but im also considering: kid sister
i finished it.

i've been saying that everyone from the bible and book of mormon are queer for years but i just accidentally transgendered cain the killer of abel in my screenplay. i didn't even mean to but i've been referring to this fella by they/them the whole time and now it just wouldn't feel right to do otherwise. i nonbinaried the first murderer gang. it's so over for me
i'm at the point in folk tail where things are kind of all coming together so there's several moments that are kinda epitometic of the whole project but i think this one might be my favorite at the moment
