Joel attempts to find a romantic connection while in the development of his next film, all the while dealing with his health and other personal issues.
It's almost impossible to review this without spoiling it. It's a meta-study of grief, and longing delivered with real felt humour and playful storytelling which can knock you on your ass at the drop of a hat and leave you broken.
A phenomenal study of the human heart.

A uniquely told tale of friendship and love wherein a man receives a documentary made about his life by his worried friend.
This felt like an incredibly therapeutic experience. It goes to some dark places and dabbles in some heavy subject matter but it all feel very very healthy rather than preachy or indulgent. You come out of it feeling ready to face the world. A rare outcome for something so down.

Daniel Hutchings is the self-proclaimed Freelance Giggle-oh and he’s got his big break on Gemma Wilde’s show. Hutchings is introduced to the world with such fascinating facts as his favourite colour (“Denim”) and his favourite food (“Any”). When he is asked how he came to be where he is, he takes us back to where it all started: Emergency Trousers.
From there our Freelance Giggle-oh weaves us a movie in and around memories and imagination. Through comedy gigs and door-to-door entertaining, adverts and ideas for movies, fantastical notions and absurd imagery, we see Hutchings’ secret fantasies and deepest fears as he remembers the stuff he’s done and imagines the stuff he’d like to do in the continuing adventures of your Freelance Giggle-oh: trying to make the world a happier place, one laugh at a time.
