ғᴏʟᴋʜᴀᴠᴇɴ | PG-16 Futuristic - Urban Fantasy - Vibrant - Action Inspired by Overwatch
You’re a folklore being who’s integrated with human society. Once upon a time, your kind guided humans and gave them advice or embodied their worst traits, which gave to rise stories about your species that would be used to teach the human race.
It’s the year 213X now, in a technologically advanced world where vehicles levitate and power armour is a thing, and those stories are mere fairytales. No one believes in them anymore. You chose to mingle among humans, identity hidden, because the world is moving on. But what’s more concerning is that there are others of your kind who have yet to move on - and the world is leaving them behind.
Folkhaven, an international peacekeeping organisation run by folklore beings for folklore beings, has just started. Within its ranks are members of your kind who believe in helping fellow kinsmen to catch up with the world or find a place to rest and hide away from humans as they encroach upon former folklore being territory. Should you join, you will be reaching out to these kinsmen before it’s too late for them. Protect them from humans, protect humans from them. There must be no war between the two races.
But every action of yours has a consequence. Folkhaven is new. There are other folklore welfare organisations. There will be kinsmen who do not agree with you, who feel that they are superior to humans and should be ruling the world like they used to. There are the humans themselves.
Change the course of history through missions, action and diplomatic alike. Your decisions, and your teammates’ decisions, will decide if Folkhaven succeeds... or fails.
Folkhaven (FH) is a narratively driven, teamwork-encouraged roleplay that features reconciling situations via negotiation, diplomacy and sometimes decisive action. Though we are plot-based and literate, we are very casual - we have no activity checks and no mandatory requirements for participation. All we encourage is social interaction and cooperation between players.
The story is based on the concept that folklore beings are living among humans and must make sure the humans do not know they live there. However, instead of living in peace, they must help others live in peace as well.
November 1st marks the end of Folkhaven’s beta period, and the Second Recruitment. 10 slots minimum will be available for the taking. If you are interested, please peruse the links below at your leisure. You are welcome to join us on our Discord server - you do not have to download anything or sign up for the service if you change your mind later. Simply access it through your browser and make a guest account! Our lobby is open to all, and all our wonderful members chill out there so you can check how we’re like :)
No prior knowledge of Overwatch is required to participate. This group borrows some concepts, but is otherwise fully original in plot and design.

Atticus is death. To humans he’s a bad omen. Seeing him meant you were soon to die; catching even a glimpse of him as he goes to hunt souls down meant cold blood in your face. Nothing can stop the dullahan, and even if you were to exploit the weakness of gold all you succeed in is turning him away. When he speaks a name, that person will die. He doesn’t have to get introduced to that person to know. He knows.
On the other hand, to one certain Other he’s a surrogate father who feels he’ll never be able to bring the kid up to what he believes is proper father business.
(X) haha what the fuck is a background?
The Folkhaven Commanders
I have spent the whole past 3 weeks I was doing this thinking, “Wow, you’d better have a damn good reason for not even showing any art or working on RPs for this long.”
This is it.
I had a ton of self-doubt I was going through with this. Like, a ton. It wasn’t so much “Can I do this?” (because I know I can) but more the lack of identity for myself more than anything else. Working on this caused me to feel actually physically tired when I finally get into bed, though unsurprisingly so because I am a devil for detail. In the end, with some help from a couple of people and what felt like a mini journey of self-questioning/discovery, I finished it.
Either way, it’s over and I’m happy with the way it is.
Characters are Varsa (mine, incubus), Aria (@quinalah, sylph), Nell (@jarofmayonnaise, black dog), Atticus (mine, dullahan) and Haru (@kishi-san, tengu), my co-mods in Folkhaven. Inspired by this image from Overwatch.
I don’t have any objections as to how ugly he is because that was the entire point of his design, but I am sure everyone else who passes my screen (because I have literally no privacy) will have something to say.
(*I am pretty sure I don’t need to explain ‘Mr L’Oréal’.)

Folklore creatures are not just stories.
It's the year 203X and humanity has largely made the old stories about folklore creatures into fairytales and bedtime stories for children. Except that these folklore creatures are very real and still around.
But because no one remembers them as they are, when they once guided humans and imparted their wisdom, many of them are becoming displaced in this new future where humans have largely taken over their lands. All that culture and history are now just old wives' tales.
In the wake of this crisis an international peacekeeping taskforce known as Folkhaven has begun. The members are all folklore creatures who have integrated with humanity and have some degree of experience with both sides. Now they want to give a second chance to those lost in a world that has left them behind.
There will be no unnecessary fighting/rebelling against humans - there's no wish for a war, just peace. But of course, it won't be that easy, now, would it? Not especially with their experiences with humans, knowing what they're like.
Inspired by Overwatch (but you don't need to know anything about Overwatch!), this story-driven art and literature-based roleplaying groupwill be opening for beta on June 18 2016. Our app checks are open now and we have space for 10 members before we close one week after opening date. Here's a few journals to quickly get you into what we're looking to do.

So why don't you come and drop by, and check us out?
k so I actually decided to stay up VERY late (as in...overnight, it is now coming 9am) because I keep not finishing things when I said I would, so for once. Just finish this. Like fuckin finish something. Anything. So I hurried up with this.
She’s a secondary (basically NPC) character for Folkhaven, basically an informant and this kid’s employer because he won’t work under a human due to past bad experiences with humans in general. She’s friends with this grump ass of mine, which is how Kes came to work under her in the first place - Atticus knows her and asked for a favour. Though she’s a kind person by nature, she’s also straight as an arrow, and sticks to her guns - provided Kes goes through the proper channels (submitting his application) and not because she knows his dad Atticus, she’ll check his worth and decide whether to employ him or not.
But I gather that she likes the boy and lets him work at the back cutting flowers when he doesn’t feel like mixing with people.
I do not know her real or human name yet, but I do know her callsign is Kalyani, Sanskrit for ‘benefit’. She’s actually a benevolent naga who likes to grow flowers, arrange them nicely and sell them cos they’re pretty. She works in London and is of British nationality even though, yes, she is obviously Indian. And yes I really wanted something that wasn’t the damn sultry well-endowed half-reptile that’s everywhere on deviantART; her human age is 45 and in her true form she doesn’t have boobs because snakes don’t have mammary glands so there. She is not your typical “half-human half-snake” tbh, she’s more the seven-headed snake type (except probably with fewer heads due to not actually being that old for a naga).
Her catchphrase is “All things have a right to grow.”
