Dig that pickguard. Dig that headstock! Folkway's website describes the #JazzII as Kay's top of the range #thinline #hollowbody that replaced the #BarneyKessel signature model after the Kay and K ended their business relationship. With Gold K "Kleenex Box" pickups, and Bigsby B6, this guitar is a somewhat rarer variation with it's natural finish over figured maple and full "Kelvinator" headstock. . Love. That. Headstock. A minty 1931 Martin 0-18K spotted at @folkwaymusic for #flattopfriday. Zoom in to see the lovely figuring on the top. . The K is for #Koa of course, and this style 18 features a body made entirely of #Hawaiian Koa and #Folkway’s website says this is one of the cleanest 0-18Ks they have ever seen. This 88 year old time capsule has made it this far without any cracks or loose braces. The finish has almost no wear and it has never been converted from its original Hawaiian setup. Only the bridge plate has been replaced - everything else is original and unmodified. And now for something completely different... 2001 #Beardsell Style 1.E.3 spotted at @folkwaymusic. From the #Folkway website: “#AlanBeardsell is one of the more revolutionary instrument builders in the pantheon of Canada’s highly regarded #luthiers. His #guitars don’t follow the blueprints laid out by #Martin or #Gibson in the 1930’s, and he has developed a deep style of his own that is itself timeless and iconic. Here's my one and only #Valentine: 1966 #Gretsch #6120 #Nashville...Before she was even mine! This pic was taken the very first time I saw the #guitar, back in November at @folkwaymusic. It had just come in (you can see it's not out on the sales floor yet...it's sitting in its case on the service counter upstairs at #Folkway) and I was instantly smitten. It took almost 2 months but I worked up the courage to propose on December 23rd...and we were married within minutes of her saying "yes". After nearly 2 months of marriage it feels like we are still on honeymoon! If you had told me this morning that I would be buying a 2015 #Fender #CustomShop '63 #Journeyman #Relic #Telecaster this afternoon, I would have laughed in your face (and probably called you a derogatory name under my breath!) 😁 But today, literally 20 minutes after selling my #ShorelineGold '67 #Tele Relic to my friend @desmo_damo, I stopped in at @folkwaymusic on my way home, and saw this freshly arrived 6.7 lb beauty. And since my pockets were positively *overflowing* with Damien's cash, I made an impulse decision to spend the incremental dollars and buy it. Now I won't be able to eat for the rest of February, but WTF? Am I right? 😆 It's a funny old game this addiction we call #guitar collecting. I think I just found my #LesPaul... 2011 #Gibson #CustomShop #R4 1954 #LesPaulCustom #Reissue spotted at @folkwaymusic in #Waterloo, Canada. The #Folkway website says its all #mahogany body (unlike on the #LesPaulStandard, there was no maple top on these models) weighs in at 9.1 lbs, but I swear it felt lighter than that to me! Perhaps my judgement was thrown off by its extreme beauty?
