I know it's not a well-known term, as not as many people define themselves as demisexual as, say, someone who defines themselves as gay, or even asexual. Demi means halfway between, so demisexual is halfway between being asexual and sexual. Someone who is demisexual is only sexually attracted to someone after they have formed a strong emotional bond with them. For example, things like one nighters are not appealing to me. I'd prefer to know someone well before being sexually involved with them.
