on the bae and boo question: i think thats an example of cultural exchange instead of appropriation. my understanding of appropriation is that it takes religious/traditional or otherwise special and important events/outfits/slang/etc and demeaning their traditional value in order for another culture to have fun. bae and boo hold no significant value for the black community.
I'm not sure about that and I would value input from the black community on this one?
The n word was said in the podcast streamed last night and gus describe the finder icon on macs and said it "looks retarded". honestly im really upset that tumblr is only reacting to the first thing when they're usually up in arms about ableism but when its actually presented in their face, they say nothing. gus used it in a derogatory manor, burnie did not. that doesnt excuse burnie and they both should apologize but it makes me angry that no one cares about what gus said.
I actually wasn't aware that had happened - I agree that both uses of the slurs are completely unacceptable.
