This classic cheese fondue is a timeless dish that's perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in. The combination of Emmental and Gruyère cheeses creates a rich and creamy base with a hint of nutmeg, perfect for dipping various accompaniments.
Ingredients: 1 garlic clove, halved. 1 cup dry white wine. 1 tablespoon lemon juice. 8 ounces Emmental cheese, grated. 8 ounces Gruyre cheese, grated. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg. Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Cubed bread, vegetables, or apples for dipping.
Instructions: Rub the garlic clove that has been cut in half around the inside of a fondue pot. Put the lemon juice and white wine into the fondue pot. Then, heat it over medium-low heat until it starts to swirl. Gradually add the grated Emmental and Gruyre cheeses to the pot while stirring all the time until the cheeses melt and become smooth. By adding a little water to the flour in a small bowl, you can make a paste. Then, stir the paste into the melted cheese to make it thicker. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste, and make sure everything is well mixed. Use a fondue burner or a low flame to keep the fondue warm. You can dip apple slices, vegetables, or cubed bread in it.
