I gather that technically it is illegal to package and send a font that the end user doesn't own a license to if they want to use it for editing, but it is done all the time...

Font Pains
If anyone can relate to finding a font then you understand the hell it is to make a logo. Since Tora Okami decided to join me, we have to come up with a better font that fits the two of us. Nothing yet.
I NEED HELP WITH MY COMPUTER // URGENT
so basically for a few months now I’ve had problems with fonts on a few pages (including Tumblr or Facebook)
it’s hideous and I’ve tried to get rid of it multiple times, but still nothing’s changed
I use Google Chrome, but the problem appears also in Microsoft Edge (which I don’t use, so it doesn’t matter). Also, I use Windows 10.
All hail Noto/Screw Noto
<font rant>
Okay, so we should all be using UTF-9 by now, like, seriously, but Chrome still doesn’t like dealing with it. When I changed the font on Towel to support UTF-9, I was like, “Oh, Google has an open-source solution for that, we should just use Noto for everything on the next release! That’s such a good idea!” and I installed it at practically BIOS level and it works FINE on the desktop, so I can see anything in the new Unicode encoding, but CHROME doesn’t like dealing with system fonts! And it doesn’t like Noto for some reason! When I encode in Noto, Chrome throws a shitfit, and flips up some dumb fuck monospace font that is NOT Noto, so I try repatching Noto, very very careful. No dice. Install Roboto, wipe Chrome down, reload Noto. Nothing.
fuCK
So I take the BIOS out back and shoot it, install Roboto system wide, reflash, reload: Chrome, again, shits the bed! “Hey, boss, look at this monospace font! Isn’t it pretty???” No, fucking hell, show me Roboto at least! Take out the BIOS again, light a candle and chant in ancient Sumerian, reinstall Noto, reflash, reboot, pray - Chrome still doesn’t fucking wanna play ball. So finally I install an unofficial Chrome extension that Google says you should download to get better control of fonts and encoding (Nice going, Google. Make that official and I’ll trust it a little more. Grrrrr.), and set every single system font for Chrome MANUALLY. And enable it in Incognito. Finally the fifth seal breaks and shit starts working right. Jesus christ. I may love Chrome and its engine and shit but good fucking lord work on how it processes font encoding. At least my fucking emojis work right now. Fuck.

You don’t like that your coworker used me on that note about stealing her yogurt from the break room fridge? You don’t like that I’m all over your sister-in-law’s blog? You don’t like that I’m on the sign for that new Thai place? You think I’m pedestrian and tacky? Guess the f*ck what, Picasso. We don’t all have seventy-three weights of stick-up-my-ass Helvetica sitting on our seventeen-inch MacBook Pros. Sorry the entire world can’t all be done in stark Eurotrash Swiss type. Sorry some people like to have fun. Sorry I’m standing in the way of your minimalist Bauhaus-esque fascist snoozefest. Maybe sometime you should take off your black turtleneck, stop compulsively adjusting your Tumblr theme, and lighten the f*ck up for once.
The Comic Sans font going the f*ck awwwf (X)
Font problems
When you send a job to a bureau or printer, always include the fonts, either by embedding them, of using PDF, or by sending the necessary font files with the document and image files.
fonts where I can’t tell the difference between capital I and lower case l are the worst...
Gah. I’m freakin garbage at design!
