Long Distance Friendships
When I was in college, I was really afraid to socialize and make friends. The constant need to open up and share a piece of myself to other people give me the sweats. Fortunately, throughout the years, I developed my interpersonal skills. It made making friends easier… and sooner, realizing which of them are true.
I’ve been in a long distance relationship with my college friends after graduation because we are all so busy to *coughs* ‘adult’ *coughs*. Despite of that, I realized that to maintain a long distance friendship, one must remember to make time for the people they love.
Recently, my college friends and I went to this food yard in Buendia. It’s called Buendia Food by the Court. The original plan was to eat at a korean buffet restaurant but since we weren’t able to plan that out, we just hopped on and became spontaneous for the night. We had a great time because the food yard offered different cuisines ranging from snacks to meals. It surely satisfied all our cravings like fries, nachos, an even lechon! The place also have good music, and a good value for aesthetics. There were hanging lights all over the ceiling that makes the area well lit and cozy at the same time. I am not a big plan of food fares but after that night, I think I have to go visit more food parks around the Metro. If you’re seeking for a fun-filled yet chill night, then this place is just right for you.
After the dinner, we headed to our hotel at the Knightsbridge Residences near Century City Mall. All through the night, we talked about our plans, our current life situations, shared jokes and opened up like never before. It felt like the stories are overflowing and that the time we have together is not enough to tackle each shared story.
I am so happy that I get to open up to the people whom I know will never judge me or will accept me despite of my shortcomings and imperfections.
Being outside and talking to my friends made me realized that friendships are built on trust, understanding, concern, and mutual respect. It means that you seek to meet the other person half way to make sure he/she is okay. You want them to b genuinely happy. Your true friends will inspire you to become a better version of yourself yet still accepts the crappy version of it. They are like your soulmate split into different personas and I’m glad I found them in Quennie, Jiel, Sarah, Muss, and Jermie.
I hope you find yours too.
