It was a white 94′ Dodge Spirit with a beige interior. By the end we called it the Evil Spirit because it was such a piece of shit. I got lucky and my Mom was looking for a new car when I turned 16. So instead of using hers for trade in she just gave it to me. That was ‘96. It was great. 4 door, v6, plenty of space for friends, great gas mileage, good trunk space. It had about 67k on it when I got it and I took it to shortly over 100k before it died. I regularly did over 100mph on the freeway as the reckless immortal teen I was. I think we drove it from Maryland to Michigan like 3 times for random weekend trips out to my boyfriends family members. I was frequently the DD as well for parties with my alcoholic boyfriend and his friends. When I got it my older brother gave me a bunch of dolphin stickers. I didn’t really know where I wanted them so I had my boyfriends much hotter friend Jay. Damn he was hot. Put them all over my back window. He actually laid them out in a pretty cool design where I could still see out the back window. Had a couple little earth stickers to. We put a big daisy sticker on one of the back side windows. My uncles filled my trunk with just in case stuff. Tire iron, jumper cables, 50lb container of cat litter, cb radio (i don’t know why), ice scrapers, all the good stuff I might need.It had horrible wiring and electrical issues. It was just a shit manufacturing job. The fuses constantly blew and that’s how I learned to replace those on my own. Brian my boyfriend at the time was a serious mechanic and taught me how to do that. He also taught me how to do oil changes and he did my brakes. It was cool.
After I hit 100k though everything died. Belts, transmission, everything. Just went to total shit far more then the cost of repairs. Even the dudes at the dealership admitted they weren’t made to go over 100k and they saw it all the time where they just kind of imploded at that point. So I ended up with a different car after that.
