06 Oct 2015. Coffee with Foossa.
Was looking for a house in NYC, but I got linked up with Lee-Sean from Foossa instead. His partner, David, at Foossa also happened to be speaking at SDGC 2015. What a coincidence. We arranged to meet today at The Grey Dog Cafe.
I realised that Foossa worked like MOE Collective - a core team with a network of collaborators who came together when required for a project.
I learnt that I admired people who have lived in Japan for awhile. I love Gundam and Ayaka, and salmon sashimi - would wanna learn the Japanese language too. I felt the same way when I met Shian Wei, a Singaporean designer working in Japan. Putting aside this urge to experience Japan for now - I just landed in NYC not long ago, for goodness. Haven't even got to know New York well enough yet.
David mentioned that as Foossa expands, they would be hiring more people, perhaps BD/Ops. It reminded me of my stint at Cialfo, the kind of start-up culture and lifestyle. Why should I be looking for employment - couldn't I create my own job and deliver value to society? *Ponders*
Feedback: I should be more upfront if I am looking for visa sponsorship. Also, “the person with prototype wins” - it would be better if I had something on hand to show people too - show and tell.
Reflection: Being specific about what I want - I need to be clear in communicating my needs to others.
