Washing Hands w/ Your Feet?

Inspired by the dude I heard only about in murmurs behind my back re: a legendary PCV doing crazy things on the peninsula, this li’l foot pump is a great, clever & if done right, a definitive answer to the cuestion of handwashing in rural Panama. Toligi’s foot-powered handwashing station was installed in a composting latrine w/ another interesting feature that will itself be featured in another post here on Bocaditos. The rubber piece there is nothing more than a used motorbike tire you NoKribites can get for free in Chiriqui Grande (o: Chirikri). Attached to it by a hose clamp is a Two-inch to Half-inch reduction. The pipe fittings are a One-inch union & 2 One-inch to Half-inch reductions glued together. By heating up a penny nail you can then push it through the pvc making a stopper for the rubber ball you then place inside forming both the check valves. Arrange as seen above y voila you have a foot pump for whatever your thirsty heart requires. Unfortunately, this was not the best realization of this li’l project, but check out the video of one that actually works!
