* Daniel Maldini, son of Paolo Maldini,
* Kevin Bonifazi, and
* Riccardo Calafiori, who plays for Arsenal.
The investigation, conducted by Milan’s Financial Police and coordinated by deputy prosecutor Bruna Albertini and prosecutor Rosaria Stagnaro, includes Alessandro Bastoni as a suspect on charges of prostitution involving a minor. He is accused of having paid for sex six years ago with a 17-year-old girl.
Other footballers who allegedly paid to have sex with adult women face no criminal liability.
The footballers questioned in recent days and weeks all gave essentially the same account: they denied paying the women they spent time with during evenings at Milan’s luxury venues and said the young women chose to spend time with them voluntarily.
According to investigators, these statements have not substantially changed the evidence already gathered regarding the alleged prostitution ring centered around the Cinisello Balsamo-based event agency.
Bastoni’s position
Bastoni’s situation is different. He has been formally placed under investigation and was summoned to appear before prosecutors, but he chose not to answer questions.
According to investigators, chat messages included in the case file indicate that he knew the girl was underage. She was 17 years and 8 months old in July 2020, and prosecutors allege that he paid to have sex with her.
Investigators also say he exchanged WhatsApp messages with Alessio Salamone, one of the agency’s assistants and one of those arrested.
According to the investigation, Buttini and Ronchi were the alleged organizers and leaders of a system revolving around Ma.De Milano, involving around 100 very young Italian and foreign women, some of whom were allegedly available as escorts.
Next steps
After the summer break, beginning in September, and once forensic examinations of all the seized phones are complete, prosecutors are expected to finalize the investigation into all those arrested and those under investigation, including Bastoni.

ARSENAL star Riccardo Calafiori has reportedly been quizzed by Italian police over an alleged prostitution ring involving up to 50 footballers.
The 24-year-old Premier League defender is said to have been summoned by prosecutors in Milan as a witness in the shocking case sweeping through Italian football.
Cops also spoke with Lazio midfielder Daniel Maldini, son of legendary AC Milan star Paolo, and former Bologna defender Kevin Bonifazi, according to local media.
None of the three players are under formal investigation and didn’t have to speak to police.
All three are among the first players to be questioned by prosecutor Rosaria Stagnaro and deputy prosecutor Bruna Albertini.
Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni, 27, has also been named as part of the police probe and is alleged to have had a sexual relationship with an underage girl.
He categorically denies the accusations and refused to appear at the prosecutor’s office today for questioning.
The girl has also reportedly denied the charges as she said during testimony: “I’m not a prostitute and I didn’t take money for sex.”
The girl – who was 17 and eight months old at the time – allegedly spent a night with Bastoni, aged 21 at the time, in July 2020.
Investigators allege the pair met in Cinisello Balsamo before moving to the player’s home.
Bastoni had received a blind summons to the Milan Prosecutor’s Office on Friday morning but his lawyer Salvatore Scuto said he had no plans to attend.
The defender did not have to attend the meeting under Italian law and it does not imply any form of guilt.
The questions come as authorities continue to investigate an alleged “escort agency” in Milan.
An unknown company is accused of hosting all-inclusive parties and events which regularly entertain footballers and other VIPs.
Roughly 50 names are tied to the exclusive events, including players from Serie A and athletes from other sports.
