Ok so when he said Cas was in denial I thought it was cause of the angel thing??? I don’t know, that just makes more sense to me than the heteronormative expectations thing, cause I don’t think Cas would care about that much. I mean, maybe a little because he knows Dean cares A LOT. But ultimately... he’s not part of human society and he never really has been. You know what his society IS, though? Heaven. And god, do angels in heaven have something against humans. They look at them like they’re beneath them; like they’re disgusting. I think the least awful thing an angel has ever called a human is a ‘pet.’ 

So OF COURSE Cas is in denial at first. He’s like. I’m not meant to feel love FOR ANYONE. Much less a human. And I mean, Cas, unlike his siblings, has always loved humanity and all, but I just feel like being the ancient cosmic eldritch horror being that he is, falling in love with something as small and insignificant and TEMPORARY as a human must’ve TERRIFYING. Just. The implications of it all.
