Depression doesn’t just go away once you get married or find the one. It doesn’t care that you finally have your shit together, or that you have nothing to be sad about.

It is an evicted tenant that refuses to leave, and you are the building. It wants to be the center of everything. It's happy that it now has two lives to infect. It wants to be the third person in bed with you and your partner.


Depression says it’s only going to be here for a few days, that it just needs a place to crash. Then proceeds to stay for 3+ weeks at a time.

It makes you want to leave your partner. It tries to tell you that you are burdening them. It tells you that they’d be better off, they’d be happier without you.


But, depression doesn’t see them cooking for you while you stare at the bedroom ceiling. It doesn’t see them making you coffee, or sitting next to you in silence. No, depression doesn’t always know what’s best; even if it thinks it does.


Depression may want to be the center of attention. But, your partner doesn’t see it; they only see you.
