Personal Update:

It’s been a whole week since I arrived in Seoul for my 13 month placement and it has flown by. Due to Mandatory Quarantine, I have to stay indoors for 14 whole days, so my little apartment is my makeshift prison for just 1 week more before I can venture outside.

After a really shitty 18 months, of which most details I will omit here, I finally made it. Working abroad has been a personal dream of mine since I can remember, and although Seoul wasn’t the place I wanted to call home (HK was tbh but with the current political climate it was best to avoid) after many vacation trips here, I thought I would give it a shot.

I’ve spent my week deep cleaning, unpacking and accepting deliveries to get myself organised, having realised post quarantine, life will be a little more hectic with work etc. It just made sense to use my time wisely and make my little apartment into a home while I have the chance.

When I’m not cleaning, generally sweating or finding places to store all the rubbish I need to keep during quarantine, I’m watching Netflix, doing my studies, skincare and people watching from my window. It’s not a famous view but it ain’t half bad and looks really pretty at night.

TBH, if you told me 18 months ago that life would be very different, that I would be pursuing my dream and working myself towards self-love, I would have died with laughter. It’s still too good to be true and it doesn’t feel real yet. It doesn’t feel like I’m here at all and this is all a VR... but I’m sure that’ll fix itself soon

I already have my totem photo card on my notice board (side note: although I am a KPOP fan, I always keen not to have loads of images etc up in my living. I prefer fan art, graphic references and symbolism or accessories, like a plush, phone case, pen etc. It’s just a personal preference) and tbh, this little ray of joy brings me happiness and focus in my life so seeing it helps tremendously.
