(Being serious, I did actually finish the 3.8 plot tonight. I put it off because I knew it was going to piss me off, and what do you know? I'm not even mad, I'm just disappointed. 😂)

#honkai star rail #3.8 spoilers #I guess #although I'm like what two months late to that party now or something?#to be honest #I don't even have any objections to the central idea of Terminus affecting the past #by moving backwards through time #I think it kind of negates the point of what the Stellaron Hunters have been doing with their scripts #because why would they need a script for the *present* if Terminus #can just edit the past???#but whatever; don't think too hard #however #the entire patch just PERFECTLY encapsulates the problems #I had with Amphoreus's writing #where the dialogue devolved by the end into lines that sounded great in isolation #but had no internal coherence with the world-building or even with the immediate plot #and every other line broke into philosophical ponderings that weren't actually relevant to the characters in the moment #but instead intended strictly for the PLAYER #so that the story got across overarching emotional messages for the audience #but failed to just actually exist as its own narrative separate from #the philosophy the devs so desperately wanted to impart #yes having a meaningful theme is important but that theme shouldn't feel like a cancer on your characters' dialogue #the characters at the end of Amphoreus stopped talking to each other and just started saying #“the moral of the story is--!!”#every other line #and this patch is just NOTHING BUT THAT #for five hours #I still love my wife Firefly though
