Crime Pays - Will oneshot

Ahh yes!!! The Will oneshot I promised you a loonngg time ago! 😞

Here's a little taste. (Rough draft)

Will walks down the quiet neighbourhood street. The people who live here are not wealthy, but live a lot more comfortably than he or any of his friends' families do. Keeping a steady pace, he comes to the house he is looking for. A two story detached home with a yard in the back lined by high hedges on one side and tall bushes and shrubs on the other. He can’t help but smile a little thinking about how the owner's desire for privacy makes it perfect for someone to walk through the yard and break the locks on the glass patio doors to enter the home unnoticed.

Especially someone who has found out that the owners will be away on holiday, leaving the house empty for a week.

You make one last check through the house to make sure all of the doors and windows are locked. You really wish your grandparents had a security system, but they’ve lived here for years and don’t see a need for it.

You’re house sitting for them while they’re on holiday, feeding the cat and watering your Nan’s plants. After your first year at uni, living in a dorm you’re enjoying the quiet of having their house to yourself. Only when it comes to going to bed in an empty house do you get a little nervous.

Heading up to the guest bedroom that you have made yours for your stay, you stand in the dark room in front of the fan blowing in still warm night air. A summer heatwave has swept across the country for the past few days, making the nights unusually warm and humid. You change, opting to sleep in just a tank top and panties to try and keep cool. Getting into bed you push the blanket down only keeping the thin sheet over you partway, falling asleep in only a few moments.

Will stealthily moves into the backyard, looking around to make sure there is no one else out and about. Despite the warm night he is dressed all in black, joggers and trainers, with his hood pulled over his head, his black backpack slung over his shoulder. Stepping onto the patio, he quickly breaks the lock the way Tom had shown him. Usually he includes his mates, Tom and Matt but this time with the owners being away, he decides to do this job alone.

Making quick work of the lock, he quietly slides the glass door open enough for him to step through into the house. Pausing for a moment, he listens for any sounds in the dark house. Closing the door behind him, he smiles to himself as he goes through the house, immediately heading for the stairs, using only a small flashlight to guide him.

The carpeting on the stairs muffles his footsteps as his long legs take two steps at a time. Reaching the upstairs hallway, he glances around wondering which room would be the master bedroom. The first door he comes to is only slightly ajar.

Curious as to why this door is partially closed, he pauses in front of it while noticing the hum of a fan running in the room. A trickle of sweat runs down the back of his neck, the beginning of a feeling that something isn’t right starts to form in his head. Switching his flashlight off, he pushes the door open wide enough to poke his head in.

Moonlight coming in from the open window bathes the room in dim silvery light, letting him see that there is indeed a fan running, trying to cool the room with night air. He freezes when he hears a soft rustle of movement from the bed.

His eyes now more adjusted to the darkness, he can make out the shape of a person stretched out on the bed, only partially covered by a thin sheet.

Suddenly, a dark shape jumps towards his legs from nowhere, screeching loudly. Startled, he bumps into the door sending it banging loudly against the wall and waking the girl in the bed.

“Interesting.” Her eyebrows shoot up, actually considering his words for the first time.

With Yoko's and Divina's wedding right around the corner, Tyler blurs out something without thinking about it beforehand.
