.ೃ࿔ ⌂*:･ Undoing the Stitches of Time: Reference Post 1

In chapter 2 of my human!Alastor x reader fic, I write about the house that the two live in. Though I had to build it in The Sims 4 first to fully visualize it so that I could describe it better, LOL. I figured I'd share it to keep in mind as the story progresses!

As a disclaimer, of course, you are always more than welcome to imagine the house, colors, and furniture however you'd like. It's a reader-insert fic after all! I guess this is just mainly for the layout of the house, and as a reference post for me to use in the future.

Rest of the photos under the cut, as this will be an image-heavy post!

To start, I took inspiration from the above layout, minus the laundry room, and downloaded a shell from The Sims 4 library that was close to the shape. I had to alter it a bit to allow for the space I had in mind, and since the scaling can be weird more often than not when taking IRL layouts and putting them into the Sims. The office shown above was turned into a hallway, and then the bedroom was converted into the office.

Next up is the entrance and living room! Just imagine the gramophone is next to the standing lamp, and a radio on the coffee table, lol. I had to make do with the packs I had, and I didn't feel like going CC shopping for furniture, because lord knows how long I would've spent doing that lmao. (⌒_⌒;)

After that comes the kitchen. Not much to say about it besides, again, the furniture being an exact 1-1 representation of the time. I'm super happy with how it came out, though, and I think it's my favorite part of the house!

I took a lot of inspiration from these photos below! Credits: 1 and 2.

Then we have Alastor's study, though we haven't seen it yet in the fic, but mayhaps soon. ( ｡ •̀ ᵕ •́ ｡) I figured I'd include it here anyway, just to complete this post as a reference. Again, I had to make do with the furniture I had, so some of the decorations placed in the photos might not necessarily be what ends up being described in the fic.

And finally, the bedroom and bathroom! I read this Guardian article that kind of went into detail about why twin beds were considered trendy for married couples up until the 1950s, and then how they ended up losing popularity around that time and beyond. It was an interesting read!

As for the rest of the room's design, I kind of just scrolled through Google Images for inspiration and picked bits and pieces to incorporate into the design.

And that's all I've got, aside from the closet and other miscellaneous bits of the house. Since this post is already pretty long, and I figure people don't really care about seeing those parts, I'll just end this post here.

Okay so for OC recs I absolutely have to recommend the @findswoman ficverse. Finds is one of the most prolific and creative OC creators I know. You can find a list of her fics in her pinned post. Her main OCs are a group of five women who travel the stars aboard a scout craft dubbed the Rose Evergreen— Glockel Sternenkranz, captain of the aforementioned vessel; her astromech droid, R1-K4 ("Rika;") Telfien Viurraanvi, a Findswoman once apprenticed to Zuckuss; Shulma Orrelios, neé Trilasha (yes, that Orrelios— you'll never be able to watch Rebels the same way again;) and Lua, mother of Pao, the little guy with the big mouth who screamed "Karabast!" at an AT-AT. And those are just the main ones. There are so many fantastic and memorable characters across her stories. (You ever wanted to meet a Hutt who talks like Edna Mode? You do now.) And that's not even touching on her interpretations of canon characters like Zuckuss and Zeb and Chava and and the Ghost crew. I highly recommend all her work.
