A Father's Love(Daddy Denmark and Little Greenland)
(This is set probably in the 1800s when Iiliit was about 12 physically and under Danish-Norwegian rule before 1979 home rule was given and she lived alone.) A young girl about twelve or thirteen ran excitedly through the light rain towards the docks. It was summer in Greenland and Iiliit was going to be catching some fish and hopefully her dad would help her scale, gut and cook them. Having to live in Denmark and being under Danish rule, she loved it when she could come back home to Greenland. Fishing was one of her favorite past times and she loved summer even if it was still cloudy in Nuuk most days. She was going before her father woke up and to surprise him with fresh fish she caught all by herself. She was a big girl and she wanted to show him that! It being a somewhat rainy day though, made the dock very slippery. Iiliit, running and being rather scatterbrained, did not realize this as she tripped and fell; all of her equipment flying into the water and across the wooden boards. The young Inuit girl fell face down with an awful thud. The breath was knocked out of her and her knees were throbbing. She pushed herself up some, her arms shaking. She took all of her strength to push herself back onto her butt and quickly put her hands over her right knee which hurt the most. Rubbing it, she sniffled and her eyes got incredibly blurry. She didn't feel so much like a big girl anymore. She bit her lip and tried not to cry but it all spilled out, "...D-Dadddyyyyyy...!" She knew Denmark was asleep but she hoped he would hear her cries anyways. As if his father sensors went off, sure enough, he was running out to the dock where the little Inuit girl was sobbing heavily. Just as quick as ever, he scooped the small thing up into his arms and cradled her close; giving her forehead a millions kisses. "Daddy is here." He assured her, "Daddy is here and you'll be okay I promise..." So he carried her home and nursed her wounds, giving her thousands of more of the kisses she loved. He even made her laugh by tickling her and got her a new stuffed animal. He loved to see his daughter happy.
