!! Is there a particular coastal area you imagine Daiport set as? I’ve lived on both the Gulf of Mexico and the Puget Sound now, and I’d love to be able to better imagine the setting.
That is an excellent question! I’ve only ever been to the Gulf beaches once and the water was crystal clear, it was absolutely gorgeous
For Daiport, I’ve always pictured it as sort of a mixture between different west coast beaches. A lot like Carmel California for it’s sloping greenery down into the sand
and a bit of Gearhart Oregon
Or Pacific Grove California
with sections of cliffs that sometimes extend down into the water, giving us juts of rock and stone that pokes out from the waves
The big rocky sections aren’t great for surfing because they’re far more dangerous but a good part of the area around Daiport is more of the smooth beach. It’s when you get to the edges of the city that things get more rocky and clifflike
