How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
Two or three? Maybe four? Sometimes, I am just done with it and I want to post it asap, which is not a good idea. I live the "no beta, we die like men" writer's life.
If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
Well, I have already rewritten "Just The Way You Look Tonight" and "Another Parent Trap". I am actually not happy with "Charms and Pearls", so maybe that one.
What do you look for in a beta?
I honestly have no idea, since I've never had a beta before.
If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
... I *have* written fics about fic (see my "fic about fic" tag on my writing blog), but I would love to write about "Once In A Lullaby".
Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
It depends on the story. Given the state of canon, I do want to take a lot of liberties, but truly, it depends. Most of the time, I find an in-between.
Talk about a review that made your day.
Oh, I have three. Kind of. In no particular order: 1) The two people on Scarves & Coffee who commented with depth on ever chapter in the "Anyway" series. 2) A person who commented on "These Walls Are Really Talkative" and that comment helped me on my journey to my autism diagnosis. 3) BlurglesmurfKlaine's comments on "All the pretty things that we could be", especially ones on the penultimate chapter.
Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
Only once, on my Brittana fic "I'm still alive and I'm still getting love". But that fic is also my most popular of all my fics (which surprised me), so it kind of disappeared underneath the positivity.
What advice do you have for people just starting to write?
Oh no, don't ask me for advice! All I can say is that you have to start somewhere, so start somewhere. If I look back to my old stuff, I see that I've grown a lot, so don't be discouraged if it's not perfect. Let go of the strive to perfection.
Which fic do you most like to discuss with other people? Why?
I've always wanted to discuss my latest fic, especially when it's a big multichaptered one, so right now it's "Myosotis sylvatica", although I am still very proud of "All the pretty things that we could be".
What's one aspect of writing fic that gets you really excited?
I love how everyone takes the same characters and gives them their own spin, so I love that fic writing allows me to do that too. Also, it's Glee, so I also love that we can fix canon.
