After being released from hospital, Chapecoense defender Neto has set his sights on playing for the club again. 💪
Manchester City FC and Chelsea FC show their respects for Brazilian club Chapecoense in their time of need.
My thoughts and prayers are with the club and everyone affected by this tragedy! 🙏🇧🇷 #ForcaChapecoense (at Lagos Ikeja)
Força Chapecoense 💚
I wasn’t a fan at all. I didn’t even know Chapecoense was a club until this morning. And yet, I’m absolutely heartbroken.
In the words of Diego Maradona, “From today, I am a supporter of Chapecoense.”
They were a small club, defying all odds and climbing through the ranks, living the dream. They weren’t well known, they didn’t have any huge starts, but they were well on their way. They were at the top level. They were going into the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana finals. They never tired of climbing and now they're in heaven.
I can’t imagine losing every single one of my heroes as some fans have. I can’t imagine what their friends, family, and fans are going through. I can’t imagine what the players who didn’t board the flight due to injuries and suspensions are feeling right now; to know something so small saved their lives, while the crash they were meant to be on claimed the lives of their colleagues, friends, and even family. It’s heart-wrenching.
I have so much respect for the Brazillian league right now, who are willing to give/loan players to Chapecoense, and are also preventing the team from being relegated for the next three years. And, I have so much respect for Atlético Nacional, who is supposedly conceding the title to the deceased players of Chapecoense.
This is what this beautiful game is all about.
My heart goes out to the friends, family, fans, and survivors of the disaster.
The football community is mourning with you.
You are not alone.
