Base model for a heavy duty technical mounting a ZSU-23 AA gun (Flatbed truck is from Mantic Games and the ZSU-23 is from Spectre Miniatures, who I can’t give the link for right now since the store is closed because of COVID lockdown) for my Force on Force: Far Cry 2 game idea.
And I am completely stumped for how to paint it. It definitely has the look and feel for a heavy duty civilian truck, like one used for construction work, but I also feel that it could easily work as a military truck too. Maybe not a true military truck, but one that’s listed as military anyway. @gunsavvybookworm suggested a beat up civilian look and I am tempted to go for that.
But then there’s question of faction too: APR of UFLL, which is extra annoying since neither faction has a true faction colour (outside of the multiplayer mode on Far Cry 2 where APR is red and UFLL are yellow, but I think that’s a bit to on the nose).
Excessive Force II: Force on Force (1995).
So I’ve got this Flatbed Truck from Mantic Games that I got free with my subscription to Wargames Illustrated and it’s been sitting unpainted in my closet for a good year or so, and I’ve finally decided to paint it up for my Force on Force: Far Cry 2 game.
The only problem is that I’m not really sure what to do with it. As you can see, it’s quite large (larger than the 1/56 scale BMP-1 from Blitzkrieg Miniatures) and it can fairly easily mount a full four-man fireteam of infantry in the back (I didn’t take a photo of it but it does work).
If I decide to do it as a trooper carrier, I can do what I saw Executive Outcomes do in Sierra Leone (or maybe it was Angola?) where they mounted a PKM on the roof of the cab. BUT if I decide to do it as a gun truck, I could add one of the technical weapons from Spectre Miniatures’ vehicles range, possibly one of the ZPU AA guns (1, 2 and 4) or the ZSU AA gun.
