It's extremely important to not only teach our children to love each other but to love themselves as well. Self love is like a seed in need of constant watering and care for healthy growth along with the importance of teaching love, wisdom, kindness, respect, morals, and education. I wrote a letter to my daughter for her to read once she grows older telling her that instead of being a flower, which although are beautiful, but tend to be stepped on, picked at, and even broken easily. I told her that I want her to grow into a beautiful tree. And I told her this because trees are not only beautiful, but they are strong, as her inner roots are protected by the ground, she shall stand high and firm, fearful of nothing and no one but God. Her bark will shield her heart, her branches will be her arms reaching out to those in need and will hold her balance. And her leaves to cover her for those rainy days life sends us at times as a reminder that God is always there protecting her no matter how rainy it may get. I stopped wearing makeup for her because she doesn't need to grow thinking she needs to paint over something so beautiful. And I will remind her everyday that it's ok if your tree isn't like everyone else's, it's ok to be yourself because you are you and no one else can be you and that's ok. I won't allow the media to tell you what you're supposed to look like or what you need to wear. I won't allow you to be reeled in. Because You are You. You belong to God. And it's up to me to keep you on his path. My angel. Céline Ava Rose.
