Forestdanger: We do not have very much information on your friend demure-alarm so Doctor Stormcurrent will be helping in his checkup

Forestdanger: But there is a significant translation barrier that we will encounter

Forestdanger: You are able to communicate with him more easily right

Of the Old Bridge: yeah! Like ok I'll be honest I don't know what he's saying most of the time as in ok let's see if I can explain it. I don't know what his words translate as necessarily but if I'm right there I can see what kind of expressions he's making like body expressions or whatever and I can usually get across what he's trying to do. he doesn't talk a lot because let me tell you I don't think he understands what we're saying most of the time either but you know demure-alarm is just wild it's great!

Forestdanger: Do you think he would be comfortable having you there for the examination to help communicate

And would you be comfortable doing that

Of the Old Bridge: yeah I mean listen I'm not very bright though to be honest! but yeah demure-alarm gets kinda uncomfortable when I'm not around because I can help him navigate if that makes sense so he usually wants me around. I mean the other thing is that he doesn't uhhh like think that he has to do things himself???? like he doesn't really like think of himself interacting with people other than me in the sort of way that everybody else does???? I don't know how to explain it.

Forestdanger: I am not sure I understand how you mean could you elaborate and or provide an example

Of the Old Bridge: ok so he's in the cargo crew. If somebody tells him to unload a box he'll do it if you can get it across what you want him to do but he'll be really confused and uncomfortable that you told him to do it, but if you don't tell him to do anything he'll just help me after watching what I'm doing. Like he knows I'm working and he wants to help me out but he doesn't think he is supposed to be unloading stuff???

Of the Old Bridge: Like he really doesn't get how people interact with each other.

Forestdanger: So would he be more comfortable receiving instructions or information through you as proxy

Yeah he checks that stuff when he gets food. i can eat everything he can tho a lot of the times we eat the same stuff or he just like wants me to eat some of his food so I usually get stuff he can eat most of the time because he wants to have some of what I'm eating???

Of the Old Bridge: Or I'll get something he can eat with something I want to try so he can have that off my plate if he can't eat it????

And it will be exciting for demure-alarm too he loves to meet new aliens but he always sticks with me in the end haha!

Ravagebeasts... Fuck fight? With each other, whenever they're near one another? Wendy? Please describe a bit more on ravagebeast culture and history for us please?

well i’m waiting for this computer to access another galaxy’s internet and it’s taking forever so i can faff off a little

so ravagebeasts as far as i know were primitive mostly solitary intelligent predators

then some aliens discovered their planet and went, “hey, this planet actually has life on it, that’s rare enough that we want to put a claim down on it”

and then they flew ships down and did surveying on it and realized “oh hey, these horrible animals are actually as smart as any person they’re just really brutal monsters”

and then other aliens went “wait really brutal monsters?” and grabbed a lot of them and brought them into space to use as like, jeez, weapons or something? i think they actually were used for porn a lot? i’m not joking?

and then a bunch of interspecies groups got together and were like “hey uh this is kind of awful you shouldn’t kidnap underdeveloped sentients off their homeworld?”

so they stopped everyone from doing that but now ravagebeasts knew about space and they were already dealing with aliens on their homeplanet and everyone thought it’d only be fair if they were brought into the intergalactic community even if they were technologically primitive because you can’t uncut a wound you know?

from what admittedly little i know from forestdanger talks ravagebeasts are pretty solitary and territorial and they tend to only have small meet-up spots and avoid one another most of the rest of the time

and they are like, really sexually aggressive and it isn’t like, they aren’t like, trying to murder one another or anything they just like, that’s just how they do things?

i don’t honestly know and i’m uncomfortable trying to speak about it more because i just don’t know and it’s not my place to speak for another alien about their culture and forestdanger doesn’t really talk about it in detail

i know that my restlessness and unhappiness when i don’t get to chase and kill something is the same as when forestdanger doesn’t get to uh
