“Can you blame them? It must seem cruel to those living in poverty and fear to see the ministry so carefree while they suffer.” Nik nodded towards the protesters. “I ought to join them. But this is not my country, not my place.”

“Can you blame them? It must seem cruel to those living in poverty and fear to see the ministry so carefree while they suffer.” Nik nodded towards the protesters. “I ought to join them. But this is not my country, not my place.”
the sound of glass breaking and the sound of the protesters' voices growing stronger and stronger are what prompt amara to start running. not very gryffindor of her, she knows, but she blames it on her fight or flight instinct, and how she chose to run away. she makes her way through the throngs of panicked people, wand whipped out just in case. she rounds a corner, and finds herself in an abandoned hallway, yet she still raises her wand up, whispering, “lumos.”
The Wiz Carlton Hotel ballroom has been laid to waste, scarcelya piece of furniture unbroken, bloodstains streaking across the floor, but all is quiet. Through the valiant efforts of the Hit Squad and the Aurors, under the leadership of the great Harry Potter himself, the Ministry managed to quell the riot and restore order. Those who had been taken hostage were rescued, and the violent protesters were arrested and have been removed to Azkaban to await trial.
There are several individuals in critical condition at St Mungo’s, but so far there have been no reported deaths as a result of the riot. Word at the Ministry is that several Aurors have received reprimands for the use of excessive force, but the names of those individuals are currently being kept from the public and there are no trials scheduled for these individuals.
Already, activists for Non-Human Beings’ rights are bristling for action. They call for the release of their comrades and the sanction of the over-zealous Aurors they claim must have initiated the riot. In the interest of public safety, the Ministry is holding public forums to hear their complaints, but they have denied all permits to hold formal protests in the near future.
On the other side, conservative wizards are calling for greater limitations on non-human beings, even going so far as to call for the removal of certain rights. They blame the protesters for the riot, and are gathering support to try and have the cause ofr greater rights quashed entirely. The Ministry has their hands full trying to keep the two sides happy, but for the moment, there is peace in the wizarding community while both sides tend to their wounded and rally their strength.
Our first event is officially over! Thank you to everyone who participated, we’re really happy with the turn-out at this event and we have ideas to make our next event even better. We ask that at this point you wrap up all your event threads, you may resume your threads from before the event or post new starters that take place the day after the event! Again, thank you all for making this event great and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves!
The first sign that things had gone terribly wrong was the screaming. Élodie barely had time to register that something was amiss before a wayward spell hit the glass goblet she was holding, and littered shards, punch, and blood over her dress. The potioneer immediately ducked beneath a nearby table, pulling out her wand as she tried to make sense of the chaos. People were shouting and running and spells were flying every which way. Someone else beneath the table was tugging on her arm - trying to lead her to the exit no doubt - but Élodie pulled away.
“Althea is here! I’m not leaving without my sister.”
No one`s really sure what set it into motion. One minute, the protesters were chanting and the band was striking up another song, and the next, people were screaming, punches were being thrown, and aurors were jumping into action with both offensive and defensive magic. The ballroom was filled with the sound of shattering glass and the stampeding feet, party-goers and protesters alike trying to cram themselves out the fire exits and blocking the way for others.
It`s chaos, people are everywhere, even the innocent whipping out their wands to defend themselves from wayward spells and collapsing ornaments. The aurors can`t tell the trouble makers from the innocent and the chaos makes it impossible for them to communicate, and protesters thinking that the Ministry is trying to shut them down are going on the offensive, vampires baring their fangs and grabbing human shields before escaping into the rest of the hotel, barricading themselves into hotel rooms to hide out until it`s safe to leave and wizards desperately searching for a place to hide.
A riot has broken out at the party! You may still continue your threads from before the riot began, but you may also begin new threads about the riot, or you may transition your existing threads into the riot! Enjoy!
The night celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday has finally arrived, and the Ministry of Magic has set up a lavish affair. Renting out the ballroom at the Wiz-Carlton Hotel in London, they’ve got tables set up for the banquet with dancing to follow a speech from our distinguished Minister of Magic, Hermione Granger-Weasley! However, not everyone is pleased with the over the top celebration of the Boy Who Lived, with a crowd gathering in the hotel lobby to protest the Ministry’s actions (or lack thereof) in advancing the rights of non-human beings. So far, the protesters have remained peaceful, but the hotel staff are less than pleased with their presence. Aurors have been called in to maintain the peace, standing guard both around the protesters and the banquet itself.
The ballroom is filled to capacity as Minister Granger Weasley rises from the head table to stand behind a podium. The lights dim as a spotlight makes her the focal point of the event, applause dying down until the only sound is the scraping of forks and knives as the Minister begins to speak.
“I’d like to personally welcome each of you to this auspicious event, commemorating a great man who’s significance to the wizarding world cannot be overestimated. I speak, of course, of my friend and comrade, Harry Potter. I have been fortunate to know Harry for most of my life, and I can say that he is easily one of the bravest, most forthright individuals I have had the great pleasure of getting to know. Having served this community as Head Auror and now Head of Magical Law Enforcement, he has always put our community first and has always acted in the pursuit of justice. Tonight, we come together to celebrate this great man. Please, raise a glass with me to toast to the man of the hour, Harry Potter!”
And with that the Minister raises her wine glass, and the toast is followed with applause and the raucous sound of merry-making. More toasts follow, from friends of Harry Potter to co-workers and family members, all with nothing but good things to say. Following the dinner, the tables are cleared away to make room for the dance floor, and a band strikes up playing popular music from Harry’s youth. The atmosphere is jovial, with discussion of the speeches, a room off the ballroom set up for the silent auction, selling off genuine artifacts from the war to raise money for charity. Despite the growing tension of the protest going on in the lobby, in the ballroom everyone appears to be having a good time.
We’d like to officially open up our first event for member participation! At this time, we’d like to ask you to put your other threads on hold until the event has concluded. Please tag your event starters with forevertogether-event and forevertogether-starter, and enjoy yourself! Your may post threads taking place in any part of the hotel, from the protests in the lobby, to during the dinner and speeches, or after the dinner has concluded! And please stay tuned to the main for event updates! Enjoy!
