“ this is the bright side of going out on a work night: getting to watch everyone else get drunk and act like idiots, ” violeta commented with a wry smile, gazing out at the bar.
“Can you blame them? It must seem cruel to those living in poverty and fear to see the ministry so carefree while they suffer.” Nik nodded towards the protesters. “I ought to join them. But this is not my country, not my place.”
“I’m not going to lie to you... this is exactly what it looks like.” Élodie stood amidst the broken bottles and various ingredients strewn about the small apothecary. The large cauldron in the middle of the room seemed to be the epicenter of explosion that had covered the room in a bright pink sludge.
the sound of glass breaking and the sound of the protesters' voices growing stronger and stronger are what prompt amara to start running. not very gryffindor of her, she knows, but she blames it on her fight or flight instinct, and how she chose to run away. she makes her way through the throngs of panicked people, wand whipped out just in case. she rounds a corner, and finds herself in an abandoned hallway, yet she still raises her wand up, whispering, “lumos.”
when she heard the screams and turned to see protesters pouring through the doors of the ballroom, rose was almost relieved. getting all dressed up in a slinky silver evening gown and making small talk with people who actually had their life together was definitely not her idea of a party. especially when there was a protest happening outside, a protest which, if only she wasn’t the daughter of the minister of magic, rose would definitely be participating in. rose stood frozen as the first duels began happening, unsure of what to do or who to aim her wand at. but when she saw a ministry auror open his mouth to cast a curse at a sphinx whose back was turned, she leapt into action, shoving him out of the way so the curse hit the ceiling instead. rose hardly had time to blink before a curse passed narrowly in front of her, and she backed up so quickly that she knocked both herself and the person behind her over.
“You look like you need a drink. Or five. Rough day?” Élodie considered sharing a glass of the soft blue nettle wine she was sipping on, but figured they could use a bit more. With a gesture to the bartender she slid a glass of firewhiskey towards them.
“I’m guessing this belongs to you.” Nikola held out a pouch of coins in one hand and held the thieving niffler by the scruff in the other.
“ hold me closer, tiny daaancer, ” rose sang in an off-key warble, clutching her bottle of firewhiskey tightly. both the alcohol and the song were making her feel warm inside, and she gave the person sitting at the bar next to her a sloppy, sentimental grin. “ it’s a good song, don’t you think? ” it was an old muggle song that was one of her grandfather’s favourites, and right now, in her inebriated state, rose was very certain it was the best song she’d ever heard.
