Tried was the operative word. Because the instant you tried to put a hand down his pants you suddenly froze, stumbled back from him. What you found there was too impressive for you. A small sneer graced the old Krogan's face, not due to disgust, but mild concern. He craned his neck to let one of his eyes meet with the turian's vision, "Come on Now..", he muttered, "Stop crying,..you don't want me to give you something to really cry over..", paired with a wide smile.

Tavi’s sob came up short more out of shock than anything.  His head snapped up to look at the old krogan, blinking, at him.  ”…I’m just surprised you care…” he mumbled, straightening up.  But Kharn had gotten what he aimed for, the crying had stopped.
