Riku continued to walk around Traverse Town looking for whoever it was he was supposed to meet. He'd been searching for a while and it almost seemed pointless until he was surrounded by some heartless.

He quickly summoned Way to Dawn and began fighting them off. They weren't hard to defeat but the number of them was a bit much. He fought off as many as he could and them some before he finally started getting tired. He pushed his limits as much as he could before he ended up against a wall when they finally started to die down a bit.

Standing there and waiting for ice cream wasn't really fun. He just ordered at the ice cream stand for two sea salt ice cream. The two were just for him, a treat for himself since he wasn’t in a great mood.

It’s not just a word. It’s liberation. Sixteen year old Meadowsweet takes a whip to the face for his trouble, but freedom comes as a high price. The Commander snarls and Meadowsweet bears his teeth like a wolf. Blood streams down the side of his face. The feeling of it brings a feeling of absolution. The rest of his fellow elites look on in shock and awe. 

“I said burn them!” The Commander raises his whip. There’s a time Meadowsweet would flinch and brace for pain. Now it means nothing. He’s lived through so much worse. He’s killed stronger people than this. Gasps ring out as the whip snaps around his forearm and with one swift motion pulls it out of The Commander’s hands.

“And I said no.”

“Meadow, no! These books aren’t worth it!” Phlox is his closest friend but survival means different tings to them. The rest of the guardians hold Phlox back as The Commander marches up to Meadowsweet. None of the guardians have ever defied him like this. He’s quick enough to grab the boy by the hair but he only catches a glimpse of the rage in Meadowsweet’s eyes before he’s on the ground. Meadowsweet’s memory ends with him pointing The Commander’s own knife at the man’s throat. He wakes up in the Hot Box hours later with a head wound and spends three days there. When he’s released, he’s told that Phlox is the one who hit him. His Commander burns not just his books but his bed and clothes. 

Freedom comes at a steep price but Meadowsweet has no regrets.

Four feet were much faster than two, especially with cloven hoof. The Satyr couldn’t help herself from giggling as she raced through the flowers to catch up with her centaur company. “Xion!” She chirps, white-deer hoofs cleaving a branch in two as she is approached by her four-legged friend. “You know the Nymphs are good...good company to have...’specially for protection. I just got pulled into listening to their songs...sorry...but I-I’m here now, promise!”

Don’t Hold Back

It was not a training exercise, this time.

This was not like in the alley in town--seeking to subdue, and always conscious of Roxas between them.  Axel was not even sure if Xion meant to win that battle from the start, but she eluded him now, quick to anticipate and quicker to dodge.  It was both frustrating and chilling, how much it reminded him of the fight with that other face he’d seen under her hood.

Axel had no intention of killing her, but every intention of wounding her if that’s what it would take to stop her.  This drama was long over--did she know what it meant?  That they were both running.  That he had chased her.  She must have heard it when it tore him in half.

What’s your problem?!

Axel threw up both weapons to block, feeling the grass buckle under his boots with a tight noise.  He leapt back, throwing one and clutching the other, and darted to get around her defense if he could.
