Forgotten Vows Friday: Four Years of This
Since this is a year of anniversaries for my big three fandoms (and I recently remembered Secundus actually has a significant one this year too -- more on that on Sunday), let's talk a little about how old the Forgotten Vows Verse is and how far we've come with it:
I made the first post on Forgotten Vows's tumblr on October 28th, 2011. Yes, that means technically I started him when he should have been Thirteened, but it wasn't until I actually started writing the stories that I came up with a firm timeline.
First people he met -- other version of himself, an Emily, and a Victoria. None of them are active these days. (Still has another him and an Emily on his follow lists though, just different people *waves at newlyriche and cxrpsebriide*)
First Alice was I Only Take Tea With Friends -- that Victor and Alice had their first kiss together, first dates together, went through the dry run of "Fixing You" together (at least, the "Victor cleaning out the last of Bumby's influence" bit), first, ah, sexytimes together (which I now realize is kind of out of character for him -- a lot of his early threads are now kind of “broad strokes” when it comes to his canon), and got Bayard the husky together before the mun's Alice muse finally failed her. Current Alice is I've Only My Wits, done by my friend Britt (who also does Butterfly Boy's Alice).
I started the actual fanfic verse with "Losing You" in 2012 -- first chapter of which was published on FF.net on June 13th, 2012. Story was originally going to be in three parts -- Losing You, Finding You, Forgetting You, with the end of that last story getting Victor's memories back right in Moorgate Station. There was also more hypnosis stuff, and the Valice arguably started earlier. We see how well all THAT worked out.
Victor moved out of London into an empty city in the middle of a wilderness set up by Caine the demigod (muse of my friend Reenie, who liked doing things the Minecraft way) -- he and Alice still reside there, and I use "heavy magical activity" to explain people finding the place.
Two new pets were added to the roster -- Splatter the cat to celebrate the "return" of Alice (the gap between old and new explained as a magical spell gone wrong), and Moonlight the fire lizard after Victor found his egg in the woods (and I found a new obsession via Dreamwidth meme).
Personality evolved from much closer to canon (and with me waaay overdoing his stutter; I had such problems with that back when I was first playing him) to the little shit with a heart of gold we all know and love today.
Been a pretty wild ride, huh? Hopefully by the fifth anniversary I’ll have made strides toward actually finishing the main arc.
