I took this fork and trimmed it down with the straight cut tin snips.
Next I flattened the curve of the fork with a metal mallet. Then I situated the fork so it would not move and started banging the fork with the mallet until it formed around the crow bar. I worked with the clamp, moving the fork in different ways until the desired size and shape was reached.
Added the crystal was a bit difficult, hammering caused some chipping and loss of mass. Once I got the crystal in well enough to not fall out, I used pliers to shape the prongs of the fork to create a more elegant design. If I were to do this again I would try a wooden or rubber mallet, use a ring sizer instead of a wrench, and definitely smooth the fork (the clamp scraped the metal a lot)
I love the final results. It needs sandpaper to be worn comfortably, but I could see myself wanting to make more of these with different crystals and variations, just need to adjust the workflow.
I am working with an amethyst in the fork ring. Pictured next to it is a quartz ring I made using soldering techniques.
