How is the City of Fresno shaping revitalization
The DNCP identifies problems and goals with specific communities in a 7,000 acre portion of the city near the downtown core of Fresno. During an interview with Fresno's Craig Scharton earlier this year, we discussed how the City knows that business owners, developers and consumers will provide the engine that is going to drive revitalization.
During that interview Craig told us about the city's poliy to encourage and shape revitalization. Craig explained that outdated zoning regulations and building guidelines would be exchanged for better regulations called Form Based Codes.
Form Based Codes will bring investment and improve our city
Building codes were developed over time to help control growth and designate parts of the city for certain use. Think of the old west and gold mining towns, people moved in so fast and businesses popped up everywhere. Inevitably, there would be a tallow business next to some houses and problems would come up.
