People never understand how difficult it is to learn a foreign language until they've tried.

My form teacher keeps moaning at me because it was 'unacceptable' that I got a B in my AS German exam, as opposed to the A that they were (unrealistically) expecting me to get. I was pleased with a B, not disappointed. That's what I wanted to get. But that doesn't matter, of course. No, it may even turn into a 'cause for concern' if I don't start getting As in all of my German written work.

This, obviously, comes from a man who has never had to learn another language. He teaches ICT, and not very well, may I add.

I work extremely hard at German, and no one seems to recognise that. Any German homework is harder than anything else I'm ever going to be set. Yet people keep complaining. I'm sick of it.
