Arcade Game: Formation Z (1984 Jaleco)
Formation Z Arcade Version.
Formation Z April 4, 1985 // Family Computer
This game has a pretty sweet concept. You play as a bipedal robot that can also transform into a fighter jet, obviously taking more than a little inspiration from the Macross anime which had aired a couple years prior. You can't just stay as a fighter jet, though, because the jet mode consumes a limited fuel resource and you'll crash and die without it. I found it hard to play because I didn't realize there was a charge beam attack (this is why you need to read the manual on these old games) so I need to revisit it.

An underloved but brilliant little game with a transforming mech and a Cheetos-orange cartridge case.
