Magnetar, Former Utopia (2020)
Decent British post-punk produced by Steve Albini and with a vivid baritone storyteller for a songwriter, Former Utopia are fronted by Damnably Records co-runner George Gargan. Magnetar sounds like a kind of mix between Albini-esque post-hardcore and the best of British post-punk in the wake of The Fall and Half Man Half Biscuit, an undeniably strong mix that makes for a compelling album.
