A question for the Derek. I do apologize if this has been asked before, but how exactly did you come up with the Idea for Daichi? I've always been curious.

As I’ve said before, Daichi is Geizt’s fault entirely… Shortly after getting really absorbed into Touhou lore, I encountered his Yuuka blog, and consumed his entire literary offering in one sitting. At that point, I knew I had to ask some questions, so I donned the mantle of Anon, Definitely Not With Bunbunmaru News to differentiate myself, and proceeded to interrogate Yuuka. The headcanons and presentation were fascinating, and a passing interest grew into something more. Still, it wasn’t until I found Dark’s Eirin that I realized how deep this rabbit hole went… There was a whole community here, and goddamn, I needed in.

So, I took the idea of Anonymous, Definitely Not With Bunbunmaru, slapped a flimsy Aya genderbend around it, and sent him out explore. At the time, he wasn’t meant to be anything that anyone would pay any real attention to, but simply a vehicle for my curiosity.

Over time, he just kinda… Grew; developing a personality, likes and dislikes, and eventually outgrew the simple Aya base I’d built. From there, people started to ask questions to him in return, and I discovered that I had precious few answers. Why didn’t he have a name? What was his history?

So, I fell back on DM training, and bullshitted my way through it all while scrambling to find ZUN’s Official Youkai Mountain information… You can guess how well that went! Turns out, much like the majority of Touhou stuff, there is precious little hard data… So, I headcanoned. I headcanoned until I was yeluk in the wep!
