The latest work from art and architecture studio Marc Fornes / THEVERYMANY is Under Magnitude: a two-story tall permanent structure suspended in the atrium of Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center. The network of tubular branches are made up from stripes of perforated hand-curved aluminium, which are riveted together. Happy Saturday! A few “clippings” from Newspapers online- 2 plays that featured Pattye… Alchemy of Desire (playwright: Caridad Svich, 1994, Ohio) and Oscar and Bertha(playwright: Maria Irene Fornes, 1992, California) awesomeness- always remembered, never forgotten! 👩🏻‍🦰👓🎭💐👏👏👏

Maria Irene Fornés was born in 1930 in Havana, Cuba, and was the youngest of six siblings. She immigrated to New York in 1945 with her mother and one of her sisters after the death of her father, then moved to Paris in 1954 with her lover and writer Harriet Sohmers to study painting, but returned to New York in 1957. She began writing plays in the early 60’s during her relationship with writer Susan Sontag, when she would sit and write with Sontag to encourage her. She wrote 44 plays between 1961 and 2000, notably And What of the Night?, Fefu and Her Friends, Mud, and Sarita. She has received nine Obie Awards for directing, playwriting, and best new American play (as well as a lifetime achievement award), and in 2001 won the Robert Chelsea award, an award presented by the Publishing Triangle to honor LQGBT+ playwrights.
