Yesterday I went for a stroll around the beautiful woodlands on the edge of Forres.....in the company of our most northerly Ramblers Scotland group, Moray Ramblers. To say it was a soggy day would be an understatement but that rarely stops our groups from making the most of it :)
I think aside from Ben Rinnes (which I climbed with Stonehaven Ramblers last year) this was my first non-Cairngorms walk in Moray, and so I wasn't really sure what to expect from this part of the world. The woodlands were stunning, there were signposts to distilleries left right and centre, and there were a few architectural surprises that I didn't expect. A lovely day in lovely company, I'm just sad I didn't have more time to explore the woodlands in town, as the colours were quite incredible.
Moray Ramblers are based in Elgin but walk all over Moray and farther afield. Their next walk is up Clashmach Hill near Huntly on 23rd November and as ever, newcomers welcome. Details on their website: http://www.morayramblers.org.uk/
