This is both deep and weird. In 2020 James Benning made an edition for the Forrest Bess retrospective at the Fridericianum in Kassel that transformed Walter de Maria's Vertical Earth Kilometer (1977), a 1-km brass rod sunk into the platz in front of the museum, into a Bess-like cosmological mystery picture.
