(Long post, but worth it, trust me!) Veterans Day makes me nostalgic for a man I never got to meet. This man brought home this bracelet from the USS Forrestal in 1967 as a gift to his wife. Unbeknownst to them, this would be the last gift ever given to her, the only time he would meet his youngest son, and the last “see you later” they would share. In 1967 a fire broke out on the USS Forrestal, and that man was killed in an attempt to put out the fire. The owner of this bracelet, my grandma, passed away in a car accident, and my aunt became the inheritor. When my parents got married, my aunt passed the gift to my mother as her something old and blue. One week ago my sister clasped the bracelet on my wrist, passed down from our grandparents, our grandpa the Fallen Hero of the USS Forrestal. #veteransday #rememberence #forrestal
