TELL US ABOUT THE 11TH FLOOR BESTIE I WANNA HEAR IT ALL
Well, before I can tell you about what happened, we need to establish WHAT the eleventh floor to The Remnant Archives is.
Needless to say, any information on anyone in the world, you can find in the eleventh floor. Everyone’s entire life stories, transactions, interactions with other people, networks, health conditions, EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU, is in an archive in the Eleventh Floor.
This is done via a machine and software, and the access that the machine has to every security camera on remnant.
Think of it like The Machine from Person Of Interest kinda
So, obviously, Qorbyn doesn’t want this information getting into the wrong hands.
When she became the Archivist, she took an oath to protect the information of everyone and in the archives. No matter if that’s from a criminal, or the governments of Remnant.
So. She doesn’t tell ANYONE about this floor. And when I mean anyone, I mean EVERYONE.
She doesn’t tell even the inner circles about this.
It’s a secret she plans to take to the grave.
The eleventh floor itself is nigh impossible to hack into or to even get into. Qorbyn herself uses an embedded microchip in her hand (a microchip that’ll literally self destruct if her body temperature goes down past the point of living body temperature.) in order to get into the floor.
The elevator does lead to it, however after someone uses said elevator to nearly get in and steal information, Qorbyn has the elevator redone and no longer has it go down to the eleventh floor.
Its only access is via a code that’ll activate a teleporter. Said code is also nigh impossible to get because you have to jump through tons of hoops in order to get it. And it’s a code Qorbyn has memorized.
Now, about that straggler who managed to nearly get in, and who was promptly thrown around like a Ragdoll by Qorbyn.
This straggler, when interrogated, tells the inner circle about the eleventh floor. Saying they don’t know what’s in it, but that Qorbyn seemed awfully protective of it and downright wrathful at the straggler for even getting down there to begin with.
And so the inner circle begins interrogating Qorbyn angrily, asking why she kept a secret that important. Except 2 members
Ozpin because he understands the secret keeping. It would be hypocritical to interrogate her over it when he himself in the past hasn’t told the whole truth and has kept secrets.
But Blaine? Blaine understands WHY she kept it a secret.
And he doesn’t understand why everyone except himself and Ozpin are so mad at her for it.
So he calls a meeting to tell his thoughts to the group.
“Why are we mad at her? And before you say “because she kept it a secret”, think about WHY she kept it a secret.
There must be something really important down that she doesn’t trust us with. And that’s within her right. It’s not her saying she doesn’t trust us, it’s her saying that we are ultimately still people, and we can fuck up still.
She probably doesn’t even trust herself with that information.
She took an oath the day she became Remnant Archivist, and she plans to keep that oath till the day she dies.
So I’ll ask again, why are we mad at Qorbyn for doing what she swore to do?”
Qorbyn ends up not budging, and so the inner circles never end up finding out what’s down there.
Ozpin doesn’t find out until almost a complete century later when one of his Reincarnations ends up jumping through all the hoops to get that code.
And hoooo boy does that open a can of worms he wasn’t expecting.
Everyone who’s ever been on remnant is in there.
Including all of his incarnations
Qorbyn wasn’t just trying to protect remnant’s information. She was trying to protect remnant from itself. Seeing the worst of its peoples trauma, she tried to make sure they wouldn’t have to relive it.
And that’s the saddest part, all she wanted to do was protect people.
And ended up making a secret memorial for all those lost over the years instead.
