Aran stopped at the edge of the office, watching Noah before she took her hand off the doorknob, turning around and learning against it instead. Hair fell in front of her eyes as she watched, letting the silence stretch out before the words just tumbled out.
“I made do.”
She paused the mad-bright look faded from her eyes, the almost manic grin gone from her face.
“You think you know anything about this? About what I wanted or want? It was always about what you wanted to learn, what you wanted to find - I’m a paid servant, aren’t I? And isn’t that all I ever end up being? Someone who is a hired goon, a hired blade, a thug - it’s marketable, sure, but it’s never what I wanted to be it’s just what I’m good at.” There wasn’t any heat to her tone, just a dispassionate imparting of facts.
“And then I found someone who didn’t want me to just be a thug, or a blade. I found someone who just wanted me to be, to exist, to thrive however the hells I wanted. Someone I could finally aspire to - someone who was better, always better than what I could hope to be.” Aran’s hand balled into a fist, the fabric of the half-gloves pulled taunt and tight across the palm with the quickness of the action.
“So what did I do, Noah? I found what I truly wanted to do and I did it, with support, with help, with guidance. And I won’t let anyone take it away from me.”
(with mentions of @mother-dearest-xiv in the vaguest of passing)
"We never got to know one another well. I was busy stuck in a facade, you busy with work. I should like to find you, and fulfill the desire to get to know you better."
Bomb: Would you say that your muse is stable or unstable, in terms of personality?
Luc is stable - generally affable, dependable. Pleasant. Very little gets under his skin or makes him do more than groan into his tea (though that pile of garlic and drunken moogles sometimes gets there) and nothing gets any rise of...passion.
It’s hard to figure this one, a little bit - Koke doesn’t do excessive drinking, or eating, tends to get into less trouble, usually does the Marginally Reasonable Thing...
Except that in terms of bad habits, she very much is in the habit of being almost dismissive of anyone that’s not Auri. She’s polite, and will attempt considerate, but she doesn’t always see the value of their advice over and Auri’s (even a Raen’s) unless it’s an area she thinks that they might have the expertise.
It hasn’t gotten her into too much trouble yet, but I suspect that it will.
The jokes of lalafell livers are entirely just jokes
Koke is the type to take the rejection and accept it - what else would you do? While normally bright and vibrantly joyous, Koke on rejection is softer, quieter, and more prone to wandering away to sink into a secluded piece of land and sing her pain to the sky. She will very quickly do whatever she can to minimize contact with the rejectee and even go so far as to (almost) tonally lie in an effort to not make what she feels obvious. No sense inflicting the knowledge of any remaining affection on them. When she’s alone and snuck off someplace far enough away to not worry about sounds being heard, she’d pull out one of the instruments (more likely the travel lute) and play but not sing, and not singing for enjoyment would take some time to stop.
- Would you surrender yourself to your enemies or fight to the very end?
Head canting a little bit the man paused at the question and his eyes almost imperceptibly narrowed. “Well it depends on what you’re fighting against, doesn’t it? And what your purpose is, as well. If you have information, isn’t it better to die - saving that knowledge from your enemy’s grip?”
Atomos: Do they feel the need to amass a great deal of money and material wealth? If so, explain why.
In terms of money Luc really has no drive to amass it - he makes sure he gets paid because that’s expected for him to care about. He makes sure he has enough to keep the rent paid up on his workspace in Limsa - but other than that... he has really no need or drive for money. He needs a set amount in order to get some weapons lessoning from U’anier and keep in good shape, but that’s mostly his company stipend going to the mercenary.
It’s not that he has no concept of needing money, or what he could do - most of what he wants cannot be bought and instead must be made. As long as he can do that, gil’s got little drive.
