@fortunefavcred asked: [ESCORT] and [JACKET] from Dain
"it's very kind of you to walk me back to the inn," there was a skip in her step as she spoke, a rhythmic bounce in her gait that kept time with to the song she was playing on her accordion. upbeat and purposefully complex, it was the kind of thing she might play at the end of a show -- a showy finale to leave an impression on the audience.
there was no audience here, of course, only a kind gentleman going out of his way to keep her safe -- but the sentiment remained.
"and while i do truly appreciate it, i feel i must reiterate what i said at the tavern: you don't have to." a pause in the music followed as she turned her gaze from the street to dain, all but craning her neck to look up at him with a wide grin. "i admit to not being the best in a fight, but i assure you that no one can talk their way out of a situation quite like yours truly." a triumphant sting played from the accordion, to iterate her point.
and no sooner had the sound faded than a wind swept through the streets -- a bitter chill that sent her shivering. she was not built for the cold, nor was she dressed for it, but this was the price one paid to be fashionable.
she huddled into herself, eyes fixed back on her accordion as she began a new song to distract herself from the cold -- but she could only manage a few notes before something dense and warm fell heavily upon her shoulders, causing her to stumble. and it took her a beat, looking down at the fabric enveloping her and then back up at her escort, to understand what had happened.
his cloak was massive around her shoulders, enveloping her and making her look so much smaller next to him than she already did. it was soft and warm and the gesture alone was enough to send her heart fluttering, heat flooding to her face.
and she smiled, not her confident and showy grin but something small and genuine, as she lowered her face down into the collar of the cloak -- hoping to hide the purple color it had taken on.
"then again," more music from the accordion, far less intentional and more idle than it had been before, merely something to do with her hands. "there is safety in numbers...i am glad to have you with me."
