So my new job title is Foster Care Navigator. There are two parts of my main job. The first is to help families who are interested in fostering to navigate the licensing process and the fostering experience in general. I’m a mediator between them an agencies, I help them find training, access people who can help them, help them find resources once they are licensed, etc.
The second part is foster parent training (here it’s called PRIDE) previously It was run by two social workers. They decided that it should be one social worker and one Navigator (part of my job requirement was that I was a foster parent either currently or previously).
Also, they are working on adjusting and altering training to include more on trauma, more on how substances effect infants, and more actual useful information.
That being said. I am moving into a new section of foster care, and if anyone in foster care feels uncomfortable continuing to share their foster/adoption journey with me, feel free to message me and I will unfollow you with no hard feelings.
I hope that everyone continues to share their journey. I think of all of you Fumblrs as friends and love sharing our joint joys, sorrows, and struggles on our journey.
