LUCIAN’S COMPANION VERSE
An exiled member of an Altus house of Tevinter, Lucian escapes his original home to take refuge with a distant connection in Kirkwall. He is meant to keep under a low profile, but Hawke stumbles upon him at night in Hightown after witnessing him destroy a gang of assassins with blood magic and can decide to help him once overwhelmed. The defensive Lucian immediately assumes Hawke and his party is another group coming for him, but if Hawke stops him from attacking quickly enough, he can be spoken to and discouraged from fighting. Depending on their response, Lucian will recognize that he is in debt to Hawke both for their help and for not reporting him immediately to the Templars and will offer to pay off his debt by joining his party. Lucian is a fussy, dominant, irritable, proud mage companion, and a potential romance option for a male Hawke. He approves of actions that display harsh truths and logic, and actions that preserve studies over people. He will also approve of any acts in favor of freedom, particularly with slaves. He will disapprove of any extremely opinionated or emotional positions, or rash or needlessly destructive behavior. He disapproves of Templar abuses, slavery, and a liberated Circle system. He will align with Varric and Isabela at neutrality in Hawke's final decision between the mages and the templars.
