Haruka is a dolphin adopted by Makoto's family into a pod of orcas after being orphaned by a shark attack. The two are inseparable until an unfortunate event brings them worlds apart. Makoto does everything he can to bridge the gap, Rei and Nagisa are so gay for each other, and Rin can't seem to catch a break.

Note: Makoto and Haruka (and any other sea person) appear like mermen creatures amongst each other while to normal humans they appear like the actual mammal/fish they are. If that makes sense.

There were moments, seemingly insignificant one's where she'd catch him doing things, mundane things… ordinary things like reading a book with his brow furrowed and his lips parted slightly, or cooking something for family night completely engrossed in whatever he was doing that she loved him so much that she literally felt she would burst. That her heart would explode because she cared for him so deeply, loved him so much that it started to hurt and every time she felt like that, she'd walk over to him, wrap her arms around him and hold on tight until the feeling passed.

So this is a delena fic I read A LONG time ago. It’s called inside.
