To answer my hc about how they died and in what order, Salazar dies from a really common muggle illness that wizards don't know about. Rowena dies next of a broken heart after the passing of Helena, or perhaps of a heart attack upon seeing her ghost for the first time. Godric lasts for much longer, but dies at Hogwarts from old injuries turned major issues with old age. Helga lives the longest and plans each day of grief at Hogwarts, and when she dies of simple old age Hogwarts mourns her deeply

My headcanon is that Rowena is the first to die *COUGH*BECAUSE JK ROWLING FORCED MY HAND*COUGH* but she doesn’t die of a broken heart, she dies of an illness they cannot cure. Then Godric would probably be next, I don’t know how yet but he’s a man of action and died DOING something, not just laying in bed. Helga is next, she passes away on a beautiful day, a little unexpectedly. And Salazar lives the LONGEST AND HEARS OF EACH OF HIS FRIENDS DYING AND IS BITTER AND OLD. I’m sorry I’m an angst monster.))
